Behavioral Sciences Association

The Behavioral Sciences Association (BSA) is a student-led organization aimed at promoting good mental health in the Northwest community. In BSA, members are able to expand their knowledge about the behavioral sciences while engaging in philanthropic, networking and service-related activities at Northwest Missouri State University and within the local community. The Behavioral Sciences Association is open to all students, regardless of major.

Health and Science and Wellness Future Professionals

The purpose of the Health Science and Wellness Future Professionals group at Northwest Missouri State University shall be to promote professional development and a sense of fellowship among its members and the entire student body.

Northwest Student Dietetic Association (NSDA)

The purposes of NSDA are to help students develop professional contacts and promote involvement in the profession of dietetics.

Psi Chi

Psi Chi is the International Honor Society in Psychology. It was founded in 1929 for the purpose of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship and advancing the science of psychology. Membership is open to students who are majoring or minoring in psychology, biology/psychology,human services or child and family studies and meet the minimal GPA and other requirements. Applications can be completed online and are reviewed for in advance of fall and spring induction. Students can learn more by contacting advisor Dr. Cline (kcline@icandcocustoms.com).

ACSM

The American College of Sports Medicine promotes and integrates scientific research, education, and practical applications of sports medicine and exercise science to maintain and enhance physical performance, fitness, health, and quality of life.

The American Psychological Association

The "oldest" organization of professional psychologists. The APA has 49 divisions that range from general psychology to clinical psychology to sports psychology to gay/lesbian issues. You can access the APA MONITOR, the official newspaper of the association, access links to a variety of psychology resources, locate important research in the APA Journals, and get information about jobs/internships/fellowships. They even have a special page devoted to issues important to Undergraduate Students!

MOSHAPE

MOSHAPE (formally MOAHPERD) is the State Organization affiliated with the National Organization, AAHPERD (American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance).

MPRA (Missouri Parks and Recreation Association)

The nonprofit association, whose members work to provide opportunities for all the state’s citizens to enjoy quality leisure activities, is dedicated to promoting public support for parks and recreation and public awareness of the contribution of recreation to a balanced life.

National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association is the leading resource for professional and student development, education, and research in collegiate recreational sports.

National Recreation and Park Association is "To advance parks, recreation and environmental conservation efforts that enhance the quality of life for all people."

The Society for Psychophysiological Research (SPR)

The members of this organization are interested in what the body can tell us about behavior, information processing, and psychopathology. These researchers relate brain activity (measured via EEG, PET, MRI, CAT), eye movements, blinks, head movements, heart rate, blood pressure, muscle movement/tension, etc. to psychological events.
